DA honors model rural women

The Department of Agriculture recently honored six lady-farmers adjudged as this year’s ‘Outstanding Rural Women’ for their respective achievements and contribution in increasing farm productivity and incomes of fellow farmers and ruralfolk in their respective communities. They received from Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala (right) respective cash prizes, project grants, and a set each of hand tractor with trailer, during awarding ceremonies, at the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), in Quezon City, October 18, 2012. They are led by Tiny Rosareal-Tamayo (3rd from right), of Antipas, North Cotabato. The other winners (starting 5th from left) are: Desiree Butuhan-Duran (finalist), of San Ildefonso, Bulacan; Alejandrina Lazaro-Correa (4th), of Claveria, Cagayan; Felomina Hernando-Janiva (3rd), of Narra, Palawan; Conchita Silor-Masin (tied for 2nd), of Gov. Generoso, Davao Oriental; and Susan Pasacay-Aceron (tied for 2nd), of Mercedes, Camarines Norte.
