Bureau of Animal Industry anniversary

Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala (2nd from right) leads the ground breaking ceremonies for the new National Veterinary Quarantine Service (NVQS) Building at the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) compound as part of the bureau’s 83rd anniversary on February 5, 2013.

The P5million-worth structure will serve as the NVQS office and collection area for experiment specimens among others. Apart from the construction of the new building, Alcala also wants to expedite the establishment of an initial world-class slaughterhouse for ducks. The project is part of the Department of Agriculture’s initiative to improve the duck industry in the country. Joining Alcala are: (L-R) BAI Quarantine Chief Dr. Florence Silvano, BAI Dir.
