DA Turned Over PHP116.4M Worth of Assistance

Department of Agriculture's Undersecretary for Operations Emerson Palad and Cebu 4th District Representative Benhur Salimbangon turned over some of the assistance included in the PHP116.4M Reconstruction Assistance on Yolanda (RAY) program to the 16 affected Cebu municipalities last Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the municipality of San Remigio.

The RAY Program is government's strategic plan to assist in the recovery and reconstruction of the economy, lives, and livelihood of affected farmers and fisher folks in Northern Cebu.

Distributed were five units tractor with a total cost of P11,000,000; 20,780 bags of urea fertilizers (P25,044,000); 5,512 bags of hybrid corn seeds (P19,294,500); 38,000 pieces of grafted mango seedlings and 79 bags of rice seeds (P94,800).
Recipient municipalities under the program are Tudela, Tuburan, Tabagon, Tabuelan, Sogod, Sta.Fe, San Regemio, San Francisco, Poro, Pilar, Medellin, Madredejos, Daanbantayan, Borbon, Bogo and Bantayan.

Majority of the mayors of the recipient municipalities personally received the certificate of turnover from USEC Palad and Congressman Salimbangon. The certificate of turnover was signed by DA-7 OIC-Regional Executive Director Angel Enriquez and the Secretary of Agriculture, Hon. Proceso J. Alcala. USEC Palad and Director Enriquez thanked the farmers and LGU partners for their cooperation in the Yolanda reconstruction efforts. (Kharlo C. Herrera CTU DevCom Intern, DA RAFIS)
