DA TURNS OVER P105.4 M PROJECTS

DA Secretary Proceso Alcala recently (July 25) turned over projects worth P 105,427,689, covering among others P38,811.468 first tranche release of farm-to-market roads for 11 Cebu municipalities; P388,920 for second tranche release to the municipality of San Remigio and P1,021,548 for third tranche release for San Fernando and Talisay City under the Grassroots Participatory (BUB) Program of government implemented by the Department of Agriculture.

Other areas covered in the BUB project are Sogod, Carmen, Compostela, San Francisco, Cordova, Balamban, in Northern Cebu and the municipalities of Alcoy, Dalaguete, San Fernando, Sibonga and Talisay City in the South.

Also covered in the turnover were projects or commitments under the Reconstruction Assistance for Yolanda (RAY) covering, among others, one unit tractor for Tuburan worth PhP 2 million and other livelihood projects such as fertilizers (P1.7 M), corn seeds (P1.4 M), other farm equipments such as threshers, corn mill, shellers, and granulators (P824,000), corn post harvest processing center (P8 M), and farm animals, (P240,000).

In attendance during the turnover of projects were Cebu Governor Hilario Davide and 3rd District Congresswoman Gwendolyn Garcia. DA-7 Director Angel Enriquez thanked the local government executives for their valuable partnership in bringing agricultural development services to farmers and fisherfolk.
