Region 7 lands in the Top 5 of the National On-the Spot Mosaic Making Contest

Kassandra Mangolare, 12 years old , from Medellin National Science and Technology School, Medellin , Cebu, landed in the top five of the National On-the-Spot Mosaic Making contest held recently the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM), Quezon City.

The competition highlights the celebration of the World Food Day in October.

Mangolare with the other four winners, each received a plaque of recognition, a cash prize of P15,000 and a local tour in Luzon. Other winners were from Regions 3,5, 11 and ARMM.

The contest was in partnership with Department of Education and contestants at the national level were winners of the schools, district , division and regional levels.

Emphasizing the role of families in the agriculture sector, the contest theme was, "International Year of Family Farming: Feeding the World, Caring for the Earth."

This is the second national win of Region 7 in the same competition in a decade.

The winning mosaics will be used as designs for the DA 2014 Christmas cards. (Anna Delza S.
