Mango Growers Attend FFS on Mango

Twenty mango growers recently finished the season long Farmer Field School in Manjuyod, Negros Oriental.

The 20-weeks training aimed to equip the participants on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) on mango production. Norberto Ouano of Regional Crop Protection Center – DA RFO 7 said that farmers should follow and adopt the good agricultural practices for them to be globally competitive. GAP is a set of recommended farming practices that encompasses all stages of food production chain and conform to internationally acceptable standards for the production and export of fresh agricultural products. The primary goal of GAP is to produce safe and quality fruits and vegetables.

Mayor Felix Sy of Manjuyod said that his municipality is one of the mango producing area of the province.

Each graduate received flower inducers and grafted mango seedlings. (RAFIS/E. Gerona)
