DA–7, NIA–7 TURN OVER AGRICULTURAL PROJECTS TO BOHOL FARMERS’ ASSOCIATIONS

Close to P95M worth of agricultural projects were turned over to the farmers’ associations in Bohol during the 6th anniversary  celebration of the National Irrigation Administration– Region 7 (NIA–7). 

Secretary Francis N. Pangilinan, Presidential Assistant for Food Security and Agriculture Modernization led the formal turnover of seven 4WD tractors, 11 hand tractors and 28 communal irrigation projects. 

These projects were funded under the Agri-Pinoy Rice Program of the Department of Agriculture–Region 7 (DA – RFO7) and NIA–7. 

Pangilinan, in his message, thanked the local government units (LGUs) and the national government agencies for the assistance given to the farmers to uplift their lives. 

“Hand in hand, we need each other  to achieve food sufficiency, security, and help modernize the agriculture industry. We need to ensure that our farmers are given the necessary production support so that they can provide enough food to feed the whole nation”,  Pangilinan said. 

Recipients of the 4WD tractors were Untaga Multi-Purpose Cooperative of Alicia, Bohol; San Miguel Organic Farmers Association and San Miguel-Caluasan Farm Service Provider Organization of Dagohoy, Bohol; Malingin Irrigation System Farm Service Provider Organization and Ubay AXR Cultivators’ Association of Ubay, Bohol; while the hand tractors were given to Tubod Farmers’ Association, Patong Farmers’ Association, Sambag Farmers’ Association and Sto. Nino Water Impounding Irrigators’ Association of Talibon, Bohol; San Miguel Development Association and Dagohoy Seed Growers Association of Dagohoy, Bohol;  Trinidad Multi-Purpose Cooperative and PCCT United Farmers’ Association of Trinidad, Bohol; Cagayan Farmers’ Association and San Jose Farmers’ Association of Inabanga, Bohol; and Buga-ong Cantuba Irrigators Association of Buenavista, Bohol.  

The municipalities of Antequera, Calape, Tubigon, Inabanga, Ubay, Dagohoy, Danao, Clarin, Batuan, Bilar, Sierra Bullones, Valencia, Anda, Alicia, Candihay, Carmen, Garcia Hernandez, Jagna, Mabini, Dimiao, Duero, Pilar and Valencia were the beneficiaries of the irrigation projects. 

The Soils and Water Research Development Station of DA-7 in Ubay, Bohol  also received one 4WD tractor. (Lolita Maramara – RAFIS)
