Six towns in the province of Bohol finally received their financial assistance amounting to P14.3 million through the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 7 under the Bottom-up Budgeting (BuB) program of the national government.

The municipalities of Dagohoy, Sevilla, Dauis, Calape, Inabanga, and Carmen accepted their cheques in a turnover ceremony held February 8, 2017 at the Bohol Agriculture Promotion Center (B-APC).

The distribution is one of the official activities of the newly-installed Regional Executive Director Atty. Salvador D. Diputado in his home province.

“I will pay particular attention to the agricultural concerns and projects in the region,” Diputado said in his welcome remarks during the short program that preceded the turnover.
He has earlier stressed that Bohol is the heart of DA Regional Field Office 7 as over 80 percent of its programs are being implemented in the province.
Joining RED Diputado in handing over the assistance was Bohol Vice-Governor Dionisio Balite, who insists to be a farmer than a lawyer.
“I am foremost a farmer. My being a lawyer is only secondary. Maghugpong tang mga Bol-anon. It is but rightful that the regional office of DA be transferred here in Bohol because I learned that majority of the employees are from Bohol and compared to Cebu where the regional office is currently situated, Bohol is an agricultural province. Let’s make use of the time that our RED is a Boholano and Secretary (Manny) Piñol understands us being a farmer himself,” Balite shared.
Local chief executives and disbursing officers of each town except Inabanga personally received their aid from the national government.
Sevilla town, represented by Mayor Juliet Dano, got two cheques from DA for BuB 2014 and 2015 each amounting to P3,250,000 and P2,350,000, respectively.
Dagohoy Mayor Sofronio Apat, Sr. accepted their town’s cheque worth P2,795,000 for BuB 2014.
The municipality of Inabanga was allotted P800,000 for BuB 2014.
Calape was given P2,000,000 worth of aide for its BuB 2015 project, which was personally accepted by Mayor Nelson Yu.
Carmen town received P2,000,000 for its BuB 2015 project while the municipality of Dauis, represented by Mayor Marietta Sumaylo, got P1,200,000 for BuB 2015.
BuB is the national government’s response to the call for participatory governance wherein local officials themselves identify the priority development projects of each local government unit through a series of guided discussions and deliberations.
