DA7's SAAD Conducts 1st Quarter Review

The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) of the Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas conducts their 1st Quarter Meeting today until tomorrow (May 17-18, 2018) in a hotel in Cebu City.

SAAD is a special project implemented by DA for the marginalized farmers aimed to complement the agency's regular and banner programs. Beneficiaries of SAAD projects are those not included or haven't availed yet of any DA interventions and those who are poorest of the poor. Profiling of these beneficiaires are conducted for evaluation and validation ensuring that they are the right beneficiaries.

Negros Oriental was one of the top 10 provinces in the country covered by SAAD for 2016. In 2017, SAAD was expanded to some provinces to include Siquijor.

Engr. Eugene Cahiles, SAAD Focal person of the region, in his message, said that the implementation is doing smoothly as projects have already been delivered. "This meeting is a venue to assess the status of the 2017 implementation in Negros Oreintal and provide updates of the 2018 SAAD for both Siquijor and Negros Oriental.

Mr. Lou Cabalde, RAFC Chairperson and the Farmer Regional Executive Director for the month of May, in celebration of the Farmers and fisherfoll month, said that the project will help reach out the marginalized sector, who are in need of livelihood for them to be alleviated from poverty.
