Twenty packets of upgraded goats amounting to some Php 1M were distributed to 20 farmer-beneficiaries from the four barangays of Ayungon, Negros Oriental.

Funded under the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the Department of Agriculture – Central Visayas (DA-CV), these barangays are the Tibyawan, Lamigan, Nabhang, and Carol-an.

Each beneficiary received 1 packet consisting of 1 buck and 4 does, 152.5 kilograms of hog grower feeds and materials for the construction of goat shed.

Hon. Edsel G. Enardecido, Municipal Mayor of Ayungon said that the SAAD program is one of the programs of Pres. Duterte that will help the poor farmers alleviate their lives. We should follow the guidelines so we can sustain the goat production in our area and share it to other farmers, he added.

Engr. Eugene C. Cahiles, Chief of the Regulatory Division and Regional Focal Person of SAAD Program said that SAAD is a special project intended for the poorest of the poor farmers who are in remote areas. “As your share for the said project, you have to construct goat shed and sustain the production. Also, have your goats insured at the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC)”, Cahiles said.

The distribution was also attended by Hon. Elsid I. Salimbagat – SB Chairman on Agriculture, Mary Marjurie A. Abella – Municipal Agriculture Officer, Sarah J. Perocho – APCO Negros Oriental, and the recipients.
