DA-7 gives P3M worth of assisstance to Negros Oriental

A total of P3 M livestock equipment is recently turned-over to the various municipalities of Negros Oriental under the livestock program of the Department of Agriculture Central Visayas.

During the turn over ceremony of a livestock weighing scale in barangay Caranoche, Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental, Atty. Salvador D. Diputado, DA-7 Regional Executive Director expressed enthusiasm that with the various assistance provided to Negros Oriental, the livestock industry of the province will become more aggressive.

Director Diputado with the local officials of Sta. Catalina and the representatives of the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental led the cutting of the ribbon for the opening of the Sta. Catalina Livestock Oksyon Market today February 12, 2019. The oksyon market is funded by the LGU.

The weighing scale amounted to P268,888.00 each is given individually to the municipalities of Bindoy, La Libertad, Manjuyod, Sta. Catalina, Tayasan and Zamboanguita.

The weighing scale will provide a smooth trading of the livestock and small ruminants in the province since the weighing-in of the livestock will happen in and around the livestock oksyon market.

The City of Canlaon, and the municipalities of Dauin, Manjuyod and Siaton, received 1 unit incubator worth P199,775.00 each, while the Provincial Veterinary Office got Liquid Nitrogen mother and field tanks with a total amount of P877,500.00.

Mayor Nelson Lopez of Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental is thankful of the Department of Agriculture for the assistance given to their municipality.

The said equipment was distributed last year under the livestock development program. Position for this year 2019 is the Native Chicken Hatchery for the province worth P5M. (qqi)
