Personnel of the Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Animal Industry-Veterinary Quarantine Service (DA-BAI VQS) and the Bureau of Customs (BoC) assigned at the Mactan Airport burned today

an estimated 100 kilos of fresh and processed pork meat and meat by-products which were confiscated from inbound foreign travellers. The confiscation and burning is in compliance with the stringent implementation of the order issued by DA on the banning of entry of pork or any meat and meat by-products especially from countries affected with African Swine Fever (ASF). Also confiscated were poultry meat products in compliance to the Avian Influenza (AI) or Bird Flu prevention. Witnessing the disposal held near the airport were Dr. Daniel Ventura, DA-7's ASF Spokesperson, and personnel from BoC and Phil. National Police.
