Farmers and irrigators' associations and other stakeholders attended the orientation on the Implementation Rules and Regulations (IRR) on Republic Act No. 10969, otherwise known as Free Irrigation Services Act held yesterday (March 18, 2019) at Bohol Tropics Resort in Tagbilaran City.

The Free Irrigation Services Act was signed into law in February last year (2018) by President Rodrigo Duterte. The law exempts farmers with less than eight hectares from paying irrigation service fee from the national and communal irrigation systems (CIS). However, those farmers with more than eight hectares, to include corporate farms, plantations, fish ponds and those who use the irrigationsystem as drainage are not covered by the law.

Led by Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, the orientation was also attended by Bohol Cngressman Arthur Yap, Bohol Gov. Edgar Chatto, Dir. Salvador Diputado of DA-7, and Dir. Angel Enriquez of BSWM.
