More than 200 farmers of Central Visayas recieve their respective certificate of completion for the six-month long School-On-the-Air (SOA) program of the Department of Agriculture 7 during the

graduation ceremony on November 21, 2019 in a hotel in Cebu City.

This farmer’s school focused on the transfer of agricultural technology using radio and text messaging as media. Technolgies shared cover the high value crops production like vegetables and fruits, corn, rice and livestock.

Regional Technical Director Joel Elumba on behalf of Regional Executive Director Salvador Diputado, inspired the farmers by emphasizing that the farmers are the ones providing the food for the country. ‘With our partnership, we can achieve food security. Food production is everyone’s responsibility’, said Elumba.

He also encouraged the farmers to use the technologies learned from the SOA in order to help them improved their production and income.

Honor graduates receive plastic crate, rake and other garden tools, while the rest have vegetable seeds.

SOA is a distance learning employed by DA to transfer agricultural technologies and other agri updates to the farmers.

This year’s SOA is a collaboration of Cebu Province Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and Cebu City Agriculture Department.
