DA – CV holds Palay Letting & Project Turnover in Negros Oriental.

The Department of Agriculture - Central Visayas (DA-CV) conducted Regional Agri-Information Caravan and Technology Forum with Palay-letting and Turnover of Projects in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on December 9, 2019.

The activity aims to provide technical assistance and updates of DA-CV and other government agencies’ programs and services and to turnover different projects to several farmer association beneficiaries.

DA Regional Executive Director Atty. Salvador Diputado emphasized that the new Agriculture Secretary William Dar focuses on new thinking, the “Masaganang Ani, Mataas na Kita”. This will serve as the guiding principle in attaining the goals of the department.

Aside from the DA’s technical services, other agencies like National Food Authority (NFA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Landbank and Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation and the Provincial Agriculture Office of Negros Oriental also took part in providing their services during the activity.

One of the highlights of the activity is the Palay-letting, an on-the-spot buying of palay by the NFA from the rice farmers. The NFA also recognized the Palay farmers who sold their Palay to the NFA.

Among the projects turned over to farmer association beneficiaries in Negros Oriental included the SAAD Projects in Valencia worth more than Php5 million, 1 unit 4WD tractor worth Php2.5 million for 94th IB in Tanjay City, 1 unit 4WD tractor worth Php2.5 million for Kalumboyan Farmers Association in Bayawan City, 1 unit Recirculating dryer worth Php3 million for Dobdob Farmers Association in Valencia, 6-storage facility worth Php4.5 million for Mabinay Farmer Scientists Organization in Mabinay, and livestock projects for Provincial Veterinary Office worth more than Php7 million.

The participants also received different IEC materials. Almost 200 farmers attended the said activity.
