A farmer-led cooperative in Cebu showed their support to the Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa (Kadiwa) ni Ani at Kita project of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

The Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative (LMPC) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the DA-Central Visayas (DA-CV) for the implementation of the KADIWA on Wheels.

The MOU signing held this week at the DA-7 office in Mandaue City will expand marketing linkages and opportunities for the farmers and fishers' produce and products to be sold directly to the consumers.

Dave Amrinto, Market Development Section Chief of DA-7 Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), said that the LMPC will serve as farm consolidators of the farmers produce.

“The LMPC is the second private institution to partner with us in providing accessibility and availability of agri-produce and products within Cebu, especially in this time of COVID-19 pandemic”, Amrinto said.

Maria Elena C. Limocon, General Manager of LMPC, expressed her gratitude to DA for having this KADIWA project.

"LMPC and DA-7 are already partners in all agricultural development projects. In this public health emergency due to COVID-19, the LMPC will continue to help our farmers and fishers earn income by selling their produce. We will provide venue and other logistical requirement for the implementation of the Kadiwa on Wheels”, Limocon said.

LMPC’s KADIWA on Wheels will be selling fresh agri-commodities like vegetables, meat, fish and dairy products. The coop will coordinate with DA 7 for the scheduling of the KADIWA on Wheels.

Regional Technical Director Marina T. Hermoso signed the MOU on behalf of DA7 RED Atty. Salvador D. Diputado, while Ms. Maria Elena C. Limocon, on behalf of LMPC.
