TALIBON, BOHOL - The Department of Agriculture 7 (DA7) formally turned over the completed Trading Post to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of the said town yesterday.

The trading post which cost P3.5M is a project of the DA7 aimed to reduce the intervention of the middlemen so that farmers will be able to bargain a good price of their produce.

Talibon Mayor Janette Garcia received the symbolic key of the trading post from DA7 Regional Executive Director Atty. Salvador Diputado during the turnover ceremony. Representative Aris Aumentado of Bohol's 2nd district witnessed the event.

Director Diputado shared on his social media account that the project is part of DA’s sustained linkages with the Local

Government Unit (LGUs) towards enhancing food productivity by assisting farmers and consumers at the same time.

"With this trading post, consumers are assured of fresh, accessible and affordable supply of food at a fair price especially now that the province is under the general community quarantine due to COVID19," he said.

Diputado added that the trading post is a big help to the farmers in the area in terms of marketing their produce without having to travel farther away to sell.

Talibon is among the many LGUs of the province that responded to the call of DA Secretary William Dar to help the farmers especially during this time of health crisis.

The trading post caters to the local farmers' produce like vegetables, fruits and rootcrops, among others.

A blessing of the facility was also conducted.

The trading post also known as bagsakan center is strategically located at the Talibon Integrated Transport Terminal in barangay San Jose.

This trading post is one of the projects of DA7 under the Bottom-up-Budgeting (BuB) program.
