The Department of Agriculture 7 (DA7) will provide funding assistance to Bilar, Bohol's Agriculture Work Enterprise (AWE) program.

The AWE which is now institutionalized in the Purok Program of every barangay of this town is a strategy adopted by the said Local Government Unit (LGU) to combat the challenge of food production amid covid-19 pandemic.
Bilar Mayor Manuel Jayectin on June 7, 2020 issued Executive Order No.16 series of 2020, requiring all Puroks (Purok is a division within a barangay composed of clustered households between 20-50 households) to implement agriculture work entrprises under the Bilar Green Agriculture Ordinance.
The AWE is designed to encourage potential farmers and fishers within a purok to produce marketable surplus or agriculture-based livelihoods.
Department of Agriculture 7 (DA7) Regional Executive Director Atty. Salvador Diputado bared that under the program, DA will provide production inputs, skills development training, and access to improved agricultural technologies.
He added that access to financing in the form of credit and crops insurance will be provided by DA.
"We are grateful of the LGU-Bilar's initiative such as this program, because this is among what Secretary William Dar has envisioned for our farmers - to capacitate them to become agri-entrepreneurs," Diputado stressed.
Diputado disclosed that the LGU-Bilar had submitted their AWE Purok-based production enterprise proposal to DA7 and that upon the review of our technical working group, it has been found feasible, hence a funding of P800,000 is allocated by DA7 under the organic agriculture program in support of the said project.
