Organic agriculture farmers get botanical facility

The Department of Agriculture Central Visayas (DA7) turned over botanical concoction facility to the farmer-recipients in Bohol and Siquijor, respectively.


DA7 Regional Executive Director Salvador D. Diputado handed over the turnover documents to the Kapunungan sa Bol-anong Organikong Mag-uuma (KBOOM) in Barangay Mansasa, Tagbilaran City on July 13, 2020. KBOOM President Erastus Leopando received the documents on behalf of the organization.
Diputado bared that KBOOM has so far received a total of P1,154,095 worth of assistance from the Organic Agriculture program of the department through Secretary William D. Dar. The latest of which is the botanical concoction facility which costs P499,576.84.
“This facility will provide the organic farmer-beneficiaries a common place for the production of their organic inputs and other botanicals,” Diputado said.
He added that with the turnover of this facility, the KBOOM farmers can have an increased volume of available soil amendment and botanical concoctions.
The facility is also designed to serve other purposes such as organic agriculture hands-on trainings, seminars and meetings.
Bohol 1st district representative Edgar M. Chatto attended the blessing and turnover ceremony of the said facility with Tagbilaran City Councilor Dulce Glovasa representing Mayor Baba Yap. Also present in the event were Ene Makinano representing Governor Art Yap, Dr. Larry Pamugas, Provincial Agriculturist and Mr. Roman Dabalos, Agriculture Program Coordinating Officer (APCO)-Bohol.
Another Botanical Concoction Facility was turned over to the Triple M Farmers Association of Lower Cabangcalan, Lazi, Siquijor amounting to P486,402.20 on July 9, 2020. Siquijor APCO Mr Gregolito Bunado represented DA7 Director Diputado in the event. Mr. Jaymar Duhaylungsod, president of the farmers association received the document, while officials of the Siquijor Provincial Agriculture office and local officials of Lazi, Siquijor witnessed the event.
One unit of the said facility is prepared for Cebu province, and 2 units for Negros Oriental under DA-7’s organic agriculture program.
