The Department of Agriculture (DA7) turned over laboratory equipment to Siquijor Province through the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV).

DA7 Agriculture Program Coordinating Officer (APCO) of Siquijor Mr. Gregolito Bunado repesented Regional Executive Director Salvador Diputado in the turnover ceremony and handed various laboratory equipment to the OPV. Siquijor Governor Zaldy Villa personally received the said laboratory equipment.
The various equipment are in support to the operation of their Siquijor Native Cattle Semen Laboratory and Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory which are managed by the Provincial Veterinary Office.
Dr. Zeam Voltaire Amper, Livestock Program Coordinator of DA7 shared that the facilities are essential in catering the services needed by the local farmers in their production such as provision of semen for artificial insemination and disease diagnosis for proper medication.
Dr. Amper shared the importance of the equipment citing a study conducted by UPLB, which stated that Siquijor native cattle breeds have genes for marbling making it competitive with the rest of beef breeds.
"With this study, we need to support the livestock industry of the province through provisions of these laboratory equipment," Dr. Amper said.
Dr. Amper explained that local farmers in Siquijor who are engaged in cow-calf operation have increased their monthly income.
