DA7 turns over P3.9M check to NORSU for Integrated Vegetable Production Project

The Department of Agriculture 7 (DA7) recently turned over P3.M check to Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) for their integrated vegetable production project.


The check was personally handed-in by DA7 Agriculture Program Coordinating Officer (APCO) of Negros Oriental Sarah Perocho who represented Atty. Salvador Diputado, DA7 Regional Executive Director. Of the P4.3M total project cost, NORSU provided P403,600 as their counterpart amount.

As mentioned in the proposal submitted by NORSU, the project is aimed to showcase to students, farmers and the community agriculture technologies to increase vegetable production, and provide avenue where they can have an actual application of these technologies, among others.
Project beneficiaries also included agricultural technicians of the different Local Government Units and other stakeholders of the agriculture sector.
This project includes construction of 3 units greenhouses, procurement of farm machineries (hand tractor, shredding machine, etc) and agricultural inputs such as vegetables seeds, plastic mulch, organic fertilizer, among others. This will be established in NORSU Pamplona campus.
The funding source for this project is taken from the High Value Crops Development Program and the Organic Agriculture program of the DA7.
NORSU Vice President for Administration and Finance Dr. Noel Marjon Yasi received the check with Dr. Darlyn Posas, Dean, College of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries-NORSU Pamplona Campus.
This project will serve as research facility and demonstration of agriculture technologies.###
