The Cebu People's Multipurpose Cooprative (CPMPC) in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA7) led the launching of the Kadiwa People's Market in LapuLapu City.

In accord with Agriculture Secretary William Dar's thrust to bring affordable and fresh agri produce to the community, the DA7 has partnered with the various cooperatives and Local Government Unit (LGUs) to ensure accessible food during this pandemic.
DA7 Regional Executive Director Atty. Salvador Diputado said that Secretary Dar wants to ensure food availability, affordability, and accessibility during community quarantine periods.
"We are happy that Cebu City government, CPMPC and the LapuLapu City government have agreed to conduct this Kadiwa to ensure not only the accessibility of food but also to monitor the prices of these agricultural produce," He added.
Diputado went on that DA7 is also strengthening its price monitoring so that the producers and consumers are protected against the unreasonable price hike.
"We at the DA7 have been working hard to bring the needed services to our farmers and the consumers in order to help stabilize the prices of these commodities," Diputado shared in a mix of Cebuano and English during his speech at the launching event.
The Kadiwa in LapuLapu City is located at Kagudoy Road, Basak, LapuLapu City. It is open every Tuesday and Wednesday.
Various fresh vegetables and fruits from the mountain barangays of Cebu City are sold in the said kadiwa.
Present in the event were CPMPC Chairman Mr. Manolito Ardimer and staff, Cebu City Agriculturist Joelito Baclayon, and officials of Barangay Basak, LapuLapu City.
The CPMPC is also a conduit of the agricultural loans of the DA.
This Kadiwa People's Market is another platform of the DA7's Kadiwa, other than the online Kadiwa and the Mobile Kadiwa spearheaded by a cooprative and various LGUs of Central Visayas.
Diputado is also discussing on the e-market transactions of the farmers’ produce with CPMPC CEO Macario Quevedo and Cebu City Agriculturist Joey Baclayon.
He said that the online transactions of CPMPC cover the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapulapu and more mobile markets are slated to be set up in the other areas of the province.###
