Negros Oriental farmers get their share of agri-interventions

The Department of Agriculture (DA7) delivered various interventions to the farmer-beneficiaries of Negros Oriental amid covid-19 pandemic.
Farmers of this province received recently hybrid rice seeds, fertilizers, native chicken, carabaos, animal food supplements, vegetables seeds and machinery.


In Valencia, a total of 16 female carabaos were delivered to the farmer-recipients under the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) program. They also got 16 units of steel plow, hybrid rice seeds and fertilizers. The distribution was held at Barangay Dobdob, Valencia, Negros Oriental.
Another hybrid rice seeds, fertilizers and 108 heads of native chicken were distributed to the farmers of Zamboanguita, and another 72 heads to Siaton. A total of 36 farmer-recipients from the two municipalities received the interventions from DA7 through the Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer (APCO) of Negros Oriental Ms. Sarah J. Perocho.
Perocho bared that the farmers were very thankful to the DA especially to Secretary William Dar on the interventions they received.
“These interventions are covered under the SAAD and the Rice Resiliency Programs of the DA, to help our small farmers, especially during this time of health crisis,” Perocho added.
Municipal Agriculturist of Mabinay Lanie Malacapay shared that farmers from their municipality and its local officials led by Mayor Joeterry A. Uy expressed their gratitude to the DA especially Secretary William Dar on the interventions they received especially on the 4WD tractor with complete accessories which help them a lot in their farm labor.###
