Agriculture Secretary William Dar lauded the Lamac Multipurpose Cooperative (LMPC) on their strong commitments and supports for the betterment of the lives of the farmers and fishers.

"Through your strong cooperativism and the power of collective actions, you (LMPC) have done a lot for our farmers and fishers. This is a tangible example on the importantance of forming our farmers and fishers into an association or cooperative," Dar said during his recent visit to the LMPC.

Dar was very impressed with the LMPC activities and undertakings especially that the coop has the vision to help uplift the lives of the farmers and fishers-their foremost members.

The Secretary went on saying that building a strong partnership with the Local Government Units (LGUs) and other government agencies is also key to development.

"I have seen the strong networks of governments agencies with LMPC. The convergence of support services both from local and national government beefs up efforts to ensure an efficient implementation of programs towards poverty alleviation," Dar said.

Secretary Dar went on requesting and encouraging LMPC to venture into swine trading by sending live hogs to Luzon since the demand is now very high due to the current ASF affecting Luzon regions.

"We will help you purchase a hauling truck through the Expanded Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita," Dar said.

The agri chief visited the LMPC on December 7, 2020 to launch the DA's cash and food subsidy to marginal farmers and fishers.

LMPC is one of the biggest coops in the country with more than 100,000 members with a net worth of almost P2 billion. It has branches in regions 6, 7 and 8.
