DA7 to deploy 6 GIP-ABE youth interns to LGUs

Six interns under the Government Internship Program for Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (GIP for ABE) youth in Central Visayas will be deployed soon to the different Local Government Units in the region.

This program is jointly implemented by the Department of Agriculture (DA) Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Engineering and the Department of Labor & Employment (DOLE).

Among others, the program aims to augment the delivery of agricultural and biosystems engineering services in support to the implementation of agri-fishery mechanization, farm-to-market roads & post-harvest facilities of the DA.

Beginning May 10, these interns will start its program in their respective places of assigment.

Two interns will be assigned in Bohol. They are Aiza Cuizon in Tubigon and Guiseppe Gunting in Jagna, while Darrel Dupalco and Jonathan Mayores will be assiged in Carcar City and Daanbantayan, Cebu, respectively.

For Negros Oriental, Benjay Boysillo will be deployed in Bais City while Rodel Ongcoy will be assigned in Siaton.

The interns will assist in the implementation of the agriculture and fishery mechanization, infrastructures and engineering programs and projects of the LGU in coordination with the DA.

DA Central Visayas (DA7) Regional Executive Director Atty. Salvador Diputado said that the program is another initiative of Agriculture Secretary William Dar and Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello to improve production and to provide assistance to the youth.

DA7 Engineering chief Cirilo Namoc said that the interns will undergo three to six months internship with a stipend of P8,919 per month per intern from the DOLE while DA7 provides the travelling expenses, per diem and other logistical requirements of the interns.

The interns are or graduates of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineer/Engineering, between 21-30 year old and not yet employed.
