CPAFEP in Bohol

The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 7 conducts a two-day briefing and consultation workshop for the crafting of the Collaborative Provincial-led Agriculture and Fishery Extension Plan (CPAFEP), today, at a hotel in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

This, after the province of Bohol was named by Secretary William Dar as the model province for the implementation of the PAFES early this year.

Regional Technical Director for Operations Cirilo Namoc, envisions the PAFES to bring the people close to the government as it basically addresses the farmers and fishers needs.

Consultant for PAFES Rex Navarro cited the need to reform the extension system to modernize the agriculture and fishery sectors in the country.

The statement is in line with the Secretary's pronouncement that the department will transition into a PAFES, the shift is to be undertaken in partnership with the local government units, state universities and colleges, the private sector, and the farmers' organizations.

Provincial Agriculturist Larry Pamugas presented the commodities of Bohol namely, seaweeds, cassava, highland vegetables, swine, rice, virgin coconut oil, native chicken, dairy, corn, bangus, tilapia, coffee, cacao and fruit trees.

The said commodities are the centerpiece in Bohol's CPAFEP for 2022-2024.

The workshop looks into mainstreaming and institutionalizing the bayanihan agri clusters, agri-business corridors and the DA devolution transition plan.

Tomorrow's panel of reactors are Assistant Secretary Arnel De Mesa, Director Bernadette San Juan, Dr. Rex Navarro, Engr. Vincent Chua, Director Carolyn May Daquio, Royson dela Cruz, and Dr. Maria Dinah Loculan.

The workshop is attended by representatives from the Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Science and Technology, Technical Skills Development Authority, Commission on Higher Education, Department of Trade and Industry, DA's attached bureaus and agencies, LGU board members, municipal agricultural officers in the province of Bohol.
