A team from the National Organic Agriculture Program paid a courtesy call to Regional Executive Director Joel Elumba at the DA RFO 7 Complex in Mandaue City, today. The NOAP team will assess the Pestales Agriculture Cooperative prior to their presentation of the P10M agriculture hub to the National Organic Agriculture Board on the third week of March.

According to Mae Montecillo, DA7 organic focal, the proposed Organic Konek or organic agriculture hub is a one-stop-shop that will serve as a business integrator of organic farms which are producing and supplying organic inputs.

The OA hub is expected to provide farm services, consolidate and market organic produce.

It also aims to address the challenges of the lack of organic inputs and the high cost of organic goods. It will also be a venue for the implementation of the organic Participatory Guarantee System.

The national assessment team includes Malou Yasoña, Familagae Perido and Czarina Gricelle Reyes.
