Regional Executive Director (RED) Joel Elumba recently turned over a 4WD tractor to Mayor Edgar Rama. The equipment is intended to support the more than a hundred farmers of the Adela association.

The largely agricultural municipality is also a recipient of the Farmer Field School on Corn Integrated Pest Management- a season-long training on managing farm pests and deciding options to control them. The training also teaches farmers to innovate based on a specific context.

RED Elumba stressed in his message during the graduation ceremony of the FFS to consider farm diversification as one of the options to build a resilient farming community.

Evangeline Laguna, the municipal agricultural officer of Poro, appreciated the DA for the unrelenting support for the farmers, citing that agriculture predominates on the island.

It is noted that the DA has granted the island various agricultural assistance consisting of fertilizers, seeds, farm equipment, farm animals, and financial grants in the past decade.
