DA RFO 7 conducts site validation to commence mango rehab program in Siquijor

A team from the Integrated Laboratories Division (ILD) of the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 7 currently conducted a regular site validation to rehabilitate the mango trees in the province.

According to Madel Dantes of the ILD, a total of 1,000 trees are targeted to be rehabilitated. Based on initial assessment, drastic pruning and right application of fertilizers are eyed to make the mango trees productive again, hired hands for 40 days, appropriate chemical treatments and the conduct of soil sampling.

It is noted that the mango industry in the province of Siquijor is a flourishing industry with 24.24 percent sufficiency level , and an annual production volume of 70.65 metric tons based on the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) Siquijor records.
