Field Implementers of the Department of Agriculture in Central Visayas recently assessed the first quarter performance of the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) program, at a hotel in Dauin, Negros Oriental. According to Mae Montecillo, SAAD program coordinator, they hit the 1st quarter target which included the conduct of training programs and distribution of farm implements.

With the election ban, the program implementers are now strategizing to beat the target in utilizing and disbursing for the second quarter.

According to Joseph Rommel Bascar, General Services Section Chief, activities to push through are training programs that are exempt from the said ban.

The assessment covered success stories of the SAAD program, procurement updates, and future targets.

It is noted that the SAAD program impacts the marginal farmers not under the component of the DA’s regular program.
