The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 7 has a significant role in sustaining the Gulayan sa Paaralan (GPP) program of the Department of Education in Central Visayas. Today, Tejero National High School is a recipient of various gardening tools, vegetable production guides, and vegetable seedlings from the DA7 high-value crops development program.

Assistant Principal Cheryl Arenga, said that aside from developing the conventional school garden, they are also contemplating of establishing a vertical garden showcasing optimum space utilization using recycled containers.

The seedlings and various garden tools are vital in the furtherance of the GPP program which aims to advocate vegetable production in primary and secondary schools by creating a food basket inside the campus, Arenga added.

It is noted that since January of 2022, the DA7 has already granted the same assistance to six public schools in Cebu alone.

Other DepEd officials in the photos are Liezl Lanticse, School Inside a Garden Coordinator, and Michael Solante, Supreme Student Government Coordinator.
