The farmers and fisherfolk month kicked off with a trade fair selling locally sourced products from various farmers at Robinson’s Galleria, north reclamation area in Cebu City. According to OIC-Regional Executive Director Joel Elumba, the trade fair benefits 12 farmer organizations and cooperatives. He added that mobilizing the KADIWA also brings the farmers’ products to the city at affordable prices.

Director Elumba urged the public to visit the trade fair starting today until Sunday, May 8, 2022. He likewise expressed his gratefulness to Robinson’s Corporation for partnering with the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 7 (DA-RFO7)through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) in promoting local food sources.

According to David Amrinto, officer- in charge of AMAD, the exhibitors are assisted by the DA through the KADIWA program. KADIWA has been giving out grants to farmers’ organizations and cooperatives in form of seed capital, logistics, market infrastructure, and equipment.

The KADIWA is loosely translated as “one idea, one thought” which aligns with the Secretary’s new thinking for the agriculture paradigm.

Exhibitors include Carson Hills, Cebu Province Mushroom Growers’ Agriculture Cooperative, Highland Fresh, Lamac Multipurpose Cooperative, Pestales Agriculture Cooperative, Kugi United Farmers Association, Growing Green Farms, First Consolidated Cooperative Along Tañon Seaboards, Macaban Kakaw-Krayollo and Lubi-Netibo Agriculture Cooperative, among others.
