DA7 offers livelihood to recipients of Peace and Development Community in NegOr

The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 7 (DA-RFO7) offered livelihood to the recipients of the KAPATIRAN Peace and Development Community (PDC) housing program, in yesterday’s turnover ceremony at sitio Ling-ab, barangay San Miguel, Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.

In his message, OIC-Regional Executive Director Joel Elumba said the DA is willing to give livelihood support interventions for the beneficiaries to take part in the region’s goal for food security and sustainability. It is noted that the DA has been pushing the participation of communities to engage in agricultural production. He likewise encouraged everyone to go on diversification to maximize their income.

Members of the KAPATIRAN belong to the Rebolusyonaryong Partido Manggagawa ng Pilipinas or the Revolutionary Proletarian Army/ Alex Boncayao Brigade- Tabara Paduano group.

The national government’s commitment to sustain the peace process is to help the rebel returnees get back to mainstream society by encouraging them to engage in farming activities. The DA is partnering with other government agencies in the implementation of the peace process in the region.

The 16 recipients received a housing unit worth P500T each, 44 more recipients are to receive pending the completion of the said units.
