Feed laboratories are required to secure a Laboratory Recognition Certificate from the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Animal Industry (DA-BAI).

Kristine Jean Laput, chief of DA7's Regional Feed Chemical Laboratory (RFCAL) said that the issuance of certificate to feed laboratories, recognize their competencies to analyze the composition of feeds and its ingredients for nutrient contents and contamination or undesirable substance. She also said that the certificate ensures that feeds manufactured by the feedmillers are of quality and safe for livestock consumption.

During the inception meeting for the Cebu-based private feed laboratories, which the RFCAL spearheaded, at least ten feed laboratories were oriented on the requirements and application process, as well as on regulatory permits and licenses required for feedmills.

Laput cited DA Administrative Order 29, series of 2005, that requires all Quality Control Laboratories of Commercial/ Non-Commercial Feed Manufacturers, Veterinary Drug Manufacturers, Tollers and Purely Service Laboratories, shall be required to apply a BAI certification.

Among the private feed laboratories present, who are to apply and renew their certificate are the Universal Robina Corporation, UNAHCO, Marcela Farms Feedmill Division, Neovia Phils, Fast Laboratories, General Milling, LTH Food Industries Inc, Provera Nutritional Solutions Corporation, Oversea Feeds, and San Miguel Foods Inc.
After the meeting, evaluation of the said private feed laboratories commenced.
