Showcasing farmer-beneficiaries' best practices and development of a monitoring tool for the implemented projects are some of the recommendations during the first semester FY 2022 assessment of the Department of Agriculture-7's Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program (DA-7 SAAD).

These recommendations, as suggested by DA7's Planning Officer Leo Pelletero of DA7, were derived from the presented accomplishments of SAAD. He said that publicizing farmers' best practices and packaging of investment capital requirements will encourage more farmers to engage and improve their farming endeavors, as well as attract would-be farmers and investors or partners.

This, he said will help uplift the lives of the marginalized farmers from the poverty line.

Gerry S. Avila, DA7's operation division chief, in his message, said that SAAD is one of the projects of DA that is performing well, as evident in the improvement of lives of the farmers who were provided with livelihood support.

The assessment also discussed some issues and concerns that need immediate actions and recommendations as bases in the crafting of the catch-up plan for the second semester.

The activity was also attended by APCO Siquijor, Dr. Julius Galvan, DA7's SAAD Coordinator Mae Montecillo, regional staff, and from the SAAD Regional and Provincial Program Management Support Office from Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor.
