Some 28 farmer associations (FA) in the Province of Siquijor, recently received poultry modules from the Department of Agriculture- Central Visayas (DA7), as part of the Quick Responce Fund (QRF).

Dr. Zeam Voltaire Amper, a veterinarian and the regional livestock coordinator said that the poultry modules composed of broiler chickens, feeds, vitamins and nets will help the affected farmers recover from the damage brought by Typhoon Odette in 2021.

During the distribution, Dr. Amper said, each association received 100 heads of broiler chicks, five sacks of feeds comprise of 1 sack chick booster crumble, 3 sacks broiler starter crumble and

1 sack broiler finisher crumble, one kilo water soluble vitamins, one sakolin roll, and one roll of range net.

He further said that the QRF interventions support the poultry meat production in the island, given the current limitations in the inter-island transport of poultry products due to the threat of avian influenza.

Dr. Amper shared that Central Visayas provinces, namely Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oreintal and Siquijor remain free of the virus.
