DA turns over farm machineries to NegOr FA

The Mangga Farmers Association (MFA) in Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental recieved agricultural machineries worth P 2.76 million from the Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas (DA7).

DA7 OIC-Regional Executive Director Joel Elumba, handed the 1 unit 4 WD tractor, a corn sheller with dehusker, and a water pump with engine set to the MFA.

In his message, Director Elumba said that the farm machineries are intended to support the corn program for the establishment of the 50 hectares corn model farm project in Sitio Mangga, Bgry. Mayabon, of the said municipality.

The project, he said, responds to the directive of the President and DA Secretary Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, in attaining food security and sufficiency. To attain security and avoid importation, this, there's a need to increase and intensify food production at the local level. Through these interventions, we will be able to reach our goal, he said.

Deputy staff of the governor Kurt Matthew Teves has assured the farmers that all their produce will have ready market for the governor himself is the buyer.

For Joselito Eluna, a MFA member, expressed his gratitude with the machineries they received. These machineries are a big help in increasing their yield. He even shared their struggles in doing manual labor, but now, with the the equipment, farm activities become easier and efficient.

Also present in the ceremony were DA7 Regional Technical Director Cirilo Namoc, Municipal Mayor Jonah Pat Aviles, Vice Mayor Felipe Elmido Sr., Brgy. Captain Juanita Baliola, Municipal Agriculturist Julieta Ingo and the members of the Mangga Farmer Association.
