NegOr FCAs, LGUs receive composting facilities worth P18M

Seventeen famer cooperatives and associations (FCAs) and two Local Government Units (LGU) of Negros Oriental province received 19 units of composting facilities for biodegradeable wastes worth P18-milion from the Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas (DA7).

During the ceremonial turnover, held at the Negros Oriental Convention Center in Dumaguete City, DA7 OIC Regional Executive Director Joel Elumba, together with the representatives from the Bureau of Soils and Water Management and the Office of Senator Villar, handed the symbolic key and certificates to NegOr Provincial Agriculture Office, LGUs and the various FCA beneficiaries.

Each composting facility comprised of a composter and shredder in an amount of P 950,000.

Elumba, in his message, encouraged the beneficiaries to make use and to properly take care of the facilities. These, he said are projects of the government that will help support the local farmers make their own organic fertilizers to cope with the rising prices of fertilizers.
