Funded under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF), machineries distributed include 3 units of combine harvester amounting P1.8M each or P 5.4 million, 6 units of walk behind amounting to P315T each or P1.90 million and 1 unit of riding type transplanter amounting to P1.2M or a total amount of P 8.5 million.

Beneficiaries were the Gomentoc Farmers Irrigators’ Association, Polo Asiotes Beneficiaries Farmers Association, Nangka Agrarian Reform Farmers Cooperative, Tabuan Ilawod Kalumboyan Farmer Irrigators’ Association, Sandulot Siaton Negros Irrigators’ Association, Kauswagan sa Brgy. Luz Association, Bayawan United Farmers Irrigators’ Association, Maninihon Farmers Association.

DA7 OIC- Regional Executive Director, Joel Elumba, in his message, urged the farmers to use the machineries properly as these are grants. These machineries are some of the DA’s interventions that will help achieve an improved and well developed farming system.

“Manghinaut ko nga inyong atimanon ug tagaan ug dakong pagtagad kining mga makinarya nga inyong nadawat kay kini mao ang dalan para sa kalambuan ug kalampusan sa umahan ingon mapadali ang gimbuhaton ninyo sa umahan ug motaas ang inyong abo tug kita.”.

(I hope that these machineries will be taken good care as these will help improve and make your farming activities easier and attain an increase in yield and income).

Diosdado Octavio, one of the beneficiaries expressed his appreciation to DA, Philmech and to Senator Cynthia Villar for the machineries they received from the program as these will greatly help them improve their farming activities.

“Sauna naa mi gitawag ug dagyaw diin daghang kabaw inyong makita sa humayan apan karon usa nalang ka tawo ang inyong makita ug ang makinarya nga gi-operate niini”. Paspas ug sayon na ang trabaho namong mga mag-uuma”.

(Before, we have this “dagyaw” or communal work where carabaos can be seen in the ricefields, but now you only see one person doing the field work through the use of a machinery. Farming now becomes very fast and easy).

Also present were Governor Roel Degamo, Arjay Venus (representing the office of Senator Cynthia Villar), DA7 APCO Alejandro Rafal, PhilMech Interim Director Joel Dator, Committee on Agriculture Chair Woodrow Maquiling, Provincial Agriculturist Emmanuel Caduyac and Farmer Association Members.
