The (AEW) awardees were Larry Pamugas and Sergio Cuaco of the Provincial Agriculture Office of Bohol Province; Carmen Cubrado, Aida Salingay and Romeo Tariao of Pilar, Bohol; Val Arcordo of Carcar City, Cebu; Nida Abada of the Provincial Agriculture Office of Siquijor Province; Norma Calijan and Andrea Canoy of Canlaon City, Negros Oriental. Each received a plaque and cash prize of P20,000.00.
The City of Canlaon was awarded outstanding rice achiever-city category. Mayor Jimmy Clerigo received the plaque and a project grant amounting to Php 1M.

The search which is now on its third year gives recognition and encouragement to local government units (LGU) and agricultural extension workers (AEW) for their support and commitment in increasing rice production. (C. Dela Victoria)
