The DA is putting up nurseries for breadfruit or rimas for ice-cream production under a P36M roadmap.  DA-Bicol Integrated Agricultural Research Center (BIARC) said that rimas is a good flavor for ice cream because of its fine texture.  It has good consistency with milk and it looks very nice because of its pure whiteness just like that of guyabano.

According to stakeholders, the NFA should only buy imported rice and not be allowed to import the staple, since the food agency is only mandated to supply ordinary rice to the market. Under the agreement, the government would not allow the private sector to import rice but may permit it to distribute the staple under NFA’s Institutionalized Farmers as Distributors program.
