DA allots P200M to prop up PHL seaweed production The Philippine government is allocating as much as P200M to prop up seaweed production in its bid to wipe out raw seaweed imports in one-and-a-half-year’s time, the DA said. The country usually imports anywhere from 80,000MT to 100,000MT of raw seaweed annually, almost from Indonesia. DA Sec. PHL starts trial exports shipment of fresh fruits, veggies to Singapore The Philippines will embark on a trial shipment of a variety of vegetables and fruits to Singapore next week. The trial shipment will involve ‘a few boxes’ of pineapples, bananas and squash. They want to see the quality of the products that will be shipped and if they approve it, then that’s the time discussions on the volume will be finalized.
