Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala (middle) awarded farmers of Antipolo City P1.5-million worth of farm implements, rice and vegetable seeds and other inputs (foreground) during a Farmers’ Congress, on March 30, 2012, at the Boso-Boso Highland Resort and Convention Center. At the forum, he encouraged Mayor Danilo Leyble (2nd from right) to enlist Antipolo as one of the coverage areas under the Central Philippines Rural Development Program (CPRDP) being proposed for funding by the World Bank (WB). The CPRDP will be patterned after the successful WB-funded Mindanao Rural Development Program (MRDP) that entails the establishment of farm and fishery production and livelihood projects, and construction of irrigation systems, farm-to-market roads, and postharvest and trading facilities. Joining them (from left) are DA coordinator Maria Cribe, DA-4A OIC-Regional Executive Director Vilma Dimaculangan and Antipolo agriculturist Violeta Suarez.
